Imagine that, after fully charging the battery, you could keep using the phone all day long, knowing that no electricity is going to the battery anymore (potentially making it last a lot longer than normal charge-discharge cycles), but that in the moment you leave your home, or a blackout occurs, you will have a 100% of battery available to your use.

for me even if it were to come and would be viable with my existing phone and even if it was relatively cheap id still not bother with it my phone can easily last the entire day on one charge, so the only thing I need to do is put it on the charger when I've gone to bed and that's it

Dang I never thought about air charging meaning that batteries could get super small. If it really takes off, you could have air charging in your cars, at the stores, in a restaurant, at work, and at home. Then again, the camping folk would always like a big battery because when the power grid goes out, imagine powering a galaxy s21 or iPhone 12 that has a 300mah battery. But then again... If batteries go out of style in devices, maybe battery manufacturers would invest more in batteries for your home that would store solar/wind power.

Using it whilst it is charging 5w at a time will drain it faster than it's charging. That already happens with regular cable chargers. Certain apps just suck energy/generate heat faster than makes sense. (I'm talking new battery and new original brand charger... So I'm not even saying this based on experience with old hardware and software)

If you're somewhere with no power, you're still going to need a battery in your phone. I don't think you could ever truly replace the battery in a smartphone with this. But I could totally see this technology used in video game controllers or wireless headphones. That would be amazing to see and I can't wait for the future of this tech.

The inefficiency of wireless churching has nothing to do with the conductivity of the materials on the charger/back of the phone. No charges are flowing through those materials, it’s inductive

I think this innovation can be useful at railway station or in some crowded area. Where less power sockets are available. note- this is my opinion your opinion may be different.

I believe that adding more and more electromagnetic waves that are not needed at all isnt a good thing. There are always concerns wether it can affect ppl in any negative way or not and also wavelengths that could be used for something useful are flooded because everyones stupid fridge, tv, microwave etc has to have its own wifi and bluetooth. Adding actual wireless charging to the mix just seems like a really bad idea. An important thing to remember is that even if the charger radiates just 5 watts, thats a lot. Phones usually work with less than milliwatts in this range. If we are already debating wether 5g can have any negative effects, we should just avoid it. Remember stuff like asbestos where people thaught its fine and safe and much much later found out its the exact opposite..

Why not invest in solar charging instead? A charger that essentially obly needs a window to plug in.

Wireless charging isn't energy efficiency. Tesla did it century ago and failed. Until energy problem is solved by using a stable resources or an efficiency energy transmission method like transmitting through a super conductor.

You know what I actually realize if they put this tech inside the phone and combine it on bluetooth, we no longer need to throw away airpods when the battery is dead. Since you can use it without battery just like the old analog cable but bluetooth with air charging.
