I have diched apple this month and there are many reasons for that. I was using iphone 6s for about 2 years and i changed to iphone XR 6 months back. The experience and the limitations are so bad I decided to dich the apple ecosystem. 1) They dropped the 3.5 mm jack so now i am stuck using wireless headphones that is like 3 different pieces to handle and also to keep it charging all the time. Also it keeps falling off from your ears. Also the replacement headphones that costed me just 25$ now is costing me 250$. 2) Storage management is very bad. In your phone you can see all the photos and videos properly organised. When connected to a PC you see just random folders from you you have to search the photo you want. 3) Why are they giving just 1 day battery life. When people start using wireless headphones and apple watch, battery drains much faster and dosen't even last 1 day after 6 months of using the phone. While traveling apple is one of the most unreliable phone in terms of battery life. 4) For the countries where they still need to lonch apple pay they should work on a way where we could use our existing credit cards so that we can stop carrying our credit card around. 5) Fixed storage space. This has always been a problem for apple where they are charging about a 100 $ or more for a higher storage iphone and everyone knows that the storage chips are not that expensive. So people are locked with the limited storage space on their phone. Supposingly if you see samsung they are giving minimum 128 GB storage in almost every new phone except some very low end phones but people can get around using a memory card.

I'm watching a bunch of videos about modern smartphones with my budget phone from 2016 next to me lol I can call, I can text, I can play music and watch videos, great, I don't need more. I also can't care less about cameras because I barely use it. I'm not saying phones getting better is bad, or I'm against it, I just can't really get behind the trend of getting a new phone every year or two. Feels a bit like a waste...

When you take a contract Apple is still more expensive. The only android brand I liked was Huawei but then they were banned by google so I had to go back to apple.

I never jumped to Apple/iPhone for that single reason, the lock-in strategy. Even though I think my Samsung or PC is lagging and I hear that Apple's alternatives are more stable (although less flexible and open to 3rd party software) I never swayed from my strong belief that lock-in just a losing game. It's morally wrong. I hope thet eventually get forced to change this.

On the one hand: yes it's a tragedy that phones don't include case, screen protector, headphones, charger, etc on the box. On the other hand: damn I'd be lying if I said I didn't like when I completely ignore the accessories that come in the box and just get a nice $20+ case with built in detachable and re-attachable screen protector that just makes the experience of using the phone daily 100% better, that offers 360 degree protection from all damage to your phone, with some handles/straps to keep your phone tethered to your hand so you'll never drop it. And some nice cheap but good value good audio quality wired earbuds that don't tangle with their little carrying pouch/case. Damn I'd be lying if I said I didn't like third party phone accessories. My dad’s windows computer is way better though. that apple ad that basically fired shots at android saying apple was faster made me laugh. while apple can have decent chipsets, and are technologically faster, their ui and the fact their own fanbase wanting simplicity holding them back actually tends to make iphone feel slower and clunkier compared to android, let alone the closing off to the user. the essentially "dont worry, the phone will deal with it" attitude of apple infuriated me, but im getting offtopic. so yes, although the phones are faster, most likely no one will actually notice it outside of placebo effect.
